“How can I feel at ease when the one with the trumpet has placed it to his lips, tilted his forehead, and is waiting to hear the command to blow, so that he can blow?”
Jami` at-Tirmidhi: 2431

Qul yatawaffakum malaku almawti allathee wukkila bikum thumma ila rabbikum turjaAAoona {11}
“Say, ‘The angel of death will take you who has been entrusted with you. Then to your Lord you will be returned.'” {11}
Surah As-Sajdah: 11

Ith yatalaqqa almutalaqqiyani AAani alyameeni waAAani alshshimali qaAAeedun {17} Ma yalfithu min qawlin illa ladayhi raqeebun AAateedun {18}
“When the two receivers receive, seated on the right and on the left. {17} Man does not utter any word except that with him is an observer prepared [to record].” {18}
Surah Qaf: 17-18

The words raqib and atid here describe the precise qualities of these two angels: one ever-watchful, one ever-ready.

“When the deceased is buried (or he said: when one of you is buried), two black and blue angels come to him. One of them is called Al-Munkar, and the other Al-Nakir. They will say: ‘What did you used to say about this man?’”
Jami` at-Tirmidhi: 1071

“And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [angels].” {17}

Currently four angels carry the Throne and on the Day of Judgment they will be supported by four more, making them eight. Allah also tells us in Surah Ghafir that the Hamalat al-Arsh make dua for the believers:

The Prophet ﷺ described one of these angels saying:

“I have been given permission to speak about one of the angels of Allah who carry the Throne. The distance between his earlobe and his shoulder is a journey of seven hundred years.”
